Favo is an online platform designed for creating and distributing customized AI models, assets, and content.
Users, especially those with non-technical backgrounds, may find Automatic1111 challenging to use due to its complexity. At the same time, both technical and non-technical users require more control and customization options to tailor the output to their specific needs.
Developing a user interface that balances simplicity for ease of use with advanced customization options can cater to both non-technical and technical users.

It was imperative to explore the broad features that could be implemented into our product.
Although we knew we wanted to leverage the burgeoning open interface of Stable Diffusion, we weren’t sure how to position the product. Would we be a marketplace or an art tool?

The original user flow for favo, detailing several parts of the complex application.
With a well-defined understanding of the product's capabilities and features, I mapped out an initial user flow, concentrating on the primary functions sought by users. My objective was to illustrate how creators could upload, list, and sell their trained models. On the other hand, I also wanted to demonstrate how users could purchase and utilize these aforementioned models.

While working through different palettes and visual aesthetics, I realized that the principal requirement was simplicity. As AI tools are a relatively nascent industry, users would rely on familiar and straightforward visuals in order to navigate our product.

Utilizing the data from user interviews, I was able to map out a journey map in order to visualize the gain and pain points throughout the process.
In particular, we observed a focus on sharing among users that could be an opportunity to capitalize on. Users felt that sharing was difficult, as there weren’t safe spaces where they could reach audiences.

Our reimagination of Favo can be described by the relationship between our three main focuses:
The social feed would bring users and show them how others are using custom models to generate images.
The marketplace would give users the ability to purchase custom models that could be used in the generation client.
The generation client would allow users to use their custom models they’ve purchased, as well as share their generated work onto the social feed.

The reimagined favo user flow.
In the process of reimagining the platform, I recognized the crucial need to restructure the user flow. My aim was to merge the previously distinct flows into a unified journey. This integration was key to demonstrating how the product's third new aspect could synergize with the other two, effectively consolidating the older ideas into a cohesive and robust singular product.

Taking on the product design role in a small team demanded many responsibilities that far exceeded my original expectations. While managing product direction, I found myself creating videos, taking point on marketing direction, and writing copy. I gained a profound insight into the grander design process that I deeply appreciate.
Perspective gives depth.
With tight deadlines, it became imperative that my initial decisions were accurate ones. There wasn’t enough time to attempt multiple approaches to problems. This helped me learn that step one was exceedingly crucial, and therefore the most worthy of time investment.
Long journeys start with the first step.
Although I left favo in order to pursue other goals, I’ll never forget the excitement of chasing “what if?”. Our grand visions and dreams acted as guides to position our ideas in the moment. We discovered ideas, such as our redesign of v1, we would have never considered if we didn’t relentlessly chased our “what if?”.
You need to dream.
